Concert hall
A project from my 9th semester
The task was to design a new concert hall for about 1000 people.

A concert hall is a place for music. I wanted to preserve, to protect the classical music from extinction in my building. This is also a place for people to revitalise themselves, to regenerate and fly away from the everyday life. The roof of the building is like a big wing which protects the music and in the same time the wing is a symbol of freedom. The form of the roof is inspired by the origami tradition and the paper crane which is probably the most popular origami shape. The crane is a symbol of freedom, renewal and rejuvenation of the body and the spirit. Throughout all of Aisa, the crane has been a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In the Greek mythology the crane was usually considered to be a bird of Apollo (the god of light, truth, music, poetry). He was also a healer and god-protector from evil. The points that I used to construct the roof of the building come from the constellation Grus (the crane).
Location

The plot for the new concert hall is located in a neighbourhood with other public buildings (the Universiada sports hall, The Ministry of Interior, the Instrumental Faculty of the National Music Academy. It is also close to one of the main boulevards - Tsarigradsko shosse. But the neighbouring quarters are mainly built with residential blocks. The area is not in the centre of the city but it is easy to reach either with the public transport (trams) or by car (there is an underground car park for almost 200 cars available for the public). There is also a big piazza in front of the building which could accept all of the spectators before and after the concerts.
