A team project from the 8th semester
The task was to plan a residential district with all the necessary facilities on the place of a former industrial complex.
The project was completed with a fellow student.
The location of the project task is close to the centre of Sofia and two of the main boulevards are its borders.The picture above shows our research with analyses of the location, the type of buildings in the neighbouring districts, the green systems, noise pollution, traffic and connections.
Our proposal for the district: the residential buildings and sports facilities are located on the north while the south is comprised of public and office buildings because of the importance of the boulevard "Tsar Boris III". There is also a big existing building of public importance with square form. This and many other buildings with public character along the boulevard, made us think that the logic should be continued.
The north border of the project is a former railway line. Because of it, there were a lot of industrial buildings and warehouses around. Now the very same buildings are empty and run-down. There are only a few new buildings with industrial character in the area. This is why we thought that the residential area should be separated with green barrier from the industrial zone.
